Sumy State University entered the TOP-3 of the academic ranking of higher education institutions of Ukraine "TOP-200 Ukraine-2020", following only the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Last year SumDU took the sixth place in the general ranking of HEIs and the third among classical universities following Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

This is a joint development of scientists of the Research and Training Center for Complex Engineering "SumDUChemTech" (Department of Chemical Engineering, the Faculty of Technical Systems and Energy Efficient Technologies) and the Department of Pathology of the Medical Institute. Academic adviser of the development is the Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Yevhen Kuzenko.

According to the results of the competition, the Head of the Regional Security Research Center of Sumy State University Mykola Nazarov became an expert of the programme committee "Safe societies - protection of freedom and security of Europe and its citizens".

On July 1st, the winners of the II Summer School of Young Chemist were awarded, which was held remotely for two days (June 24th-25th) at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Chemistry of Sumy State University.

The Ministry of Education and Science has developed guidelines for the organization of blended learning in higher and professional higher education institutions. Yurii Zuban, the Director of the Organizational and Methodological Center of E-learning Technologies at Sumy State University, worked on the creation of training instructions as part of the Ministry of Education and Science workgroup.

On June 24th, the results of two international rankings of the world young universities were published: THE Young University Rankings and QS Top 50 Under 50. For the fourth year in a row, Sumy State University confirms its leading position in the ranking of young universities from QS and entered the respective ranking from Times Higher Education for the first time. Currently, SumDU remains the only representative of Ukraine in this category of rankings.

On June 12th-16th, Kyiv hosted the VIII International Music Art Competition "Kyivskyi Koloryt", which was attended by over 300 participants from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Dnipro, Zaporizhia, Zhytomyr, Sumy, Chernihiv, Minsk, Chisinau and other cities of Ukraine and abroad. The competition was supported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, organized by the National All-Ukrainian Music Union. The university in the competition was represented by the participants of the vocal studio of the cultural and artistic center (headed by Olha Bondarenko).

On June 16th, an online roundtable was held on “The decade of participation of Ukrainian universities in the QS ranking: problems and prospects”. The event was attended by representatives of QS Quacquarelli Symonds (Great Britain), the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, and six Ukrainian universities, which entered the TOP-1000 of the QS ranking this year. Sumy State University was represented by the rector Anatoliy Vasylyev.

On June 12th-13th, the water-rowing base of SumDU held the Cup of Ukraine in ship modeling sport, models of "M" section (high-speed radio-controlled models) “The Cup of SumDU-2020".

The decision on exemplary accreditation for the bachelor's degree programme "Psychology" was made on June 16th at a meeting of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance.
