On 4 October 2023, the opening of student games took place in the Palace of Sports. That was dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the SumDU foundation.

Yevhenii BALIEVSKYI (a Master’s student in the Physical Culture and Sports specialty) became the winner of the European Judo Cup in the 100+ kg weight category.

According to the new results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2024, SumDU takes the top position among Ukrainian universities. Besides, it belongs to 500 best institutions worldwide.

A large-scale meeting of representatives of the European University Alliance “Unite!” took place on the basis of Wroclaw Polytechnic in Poland (a SumDU partner). The organization unites higher education institutions from 9 EU countries (Austria, Spain, Italy, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Finland, France and Sweden), 7 leading Ukrainian universities and heads of the National Agency for Quality Assurance of Higher Education.

The web portal Study Abroad Aide (South Korea) presents over 8,000 higher education institutions from 72 countries worldwide. It has published results of the 2023-2024 World Rankings for Best Universities for International Students.

In 2024, the QS company presented the first-ever ranking of European universities. It included higher education institutions from 42 countries that are full members of the European Council. The ranking does not evaluate Russian and Belarusian institutions. In this aspect, Ukraine was represented by 33 universities from 16 oblasts.

Yurii PETRUSHENKO (DSc in Economics, professor, head of the Department for International Economic Affairs) was invited to the James Madison University. Here in Virginia (the USA), he participated in the work of the Institute for Civil Studies and Democracy Learning. It was held on 3-10 September 2023.

Sumy State University passed the competitive selection process and joined the second phase of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Development of Medical Education”.
