According to the renewed results of the Webometrics ranking, Sumy State University confirmed the position in the TOP-3 of Ukrainian universities together with the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.

Sumy State University once again confirmed the high quality of professionals’ training. On July 27th, at a meeting of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education, two academic programmes for the training of Doctor of Philosophy in the majors 061 "Journalism" and 222 "Medicine" were recognized as exemplary.

On July 26th, within the project “Higher Education in Ukraine” for comprehensive energy-efficient renovation of six Ukrainian universities the contracts were signed with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the amount of EUR 49 million and a grant from the Eastern European Partnership for Energy Efficiency and Environment (E5P) of EUR 10 million.

On July 23rd the XXXII Summer Olympic Games started in the capital of Japan - Tokyo and will end on August 8th. 158 participants in 25 kinds of sports will represent Ukraine at the large-scale sports forum. 

The Webometrics Ranking has published the first edition of Transparent Ranking this year, which will be included in the main Webometrics Ranking.

On July 14, Ukraine has started the admission of electronic applications from the graduates of the general secondary education institutions and professional colleges to study in higher education institutions. On July 15, the admission to the Master's degree programmes has begun. On the first day of the admission campaign, Sumy State University received twice as many applications as same period last year.

The applications for enrollment to the HEI are submitted electronically through the personal account of the entrant.

On July 10-11, the Play-Off and Grand Final of the CYBER SUMDU e-sports tournament [CS: GO and Mortal Kombat 11] took place at the Congress Center of Sumy State University.

One hundred and twenty-eight teams from Sumy and Sumy region, Kyiv, Lviv, Cherkasy, Mykolayiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv, took part in the tournament. Thirty-two teams reached the final and competed in two leagues – school and amateur.

Sumy State University, recognized as a scientific, educational and cultural center of the North-Eastern region of Ukraine and having established the fruitful mutual relations with the government, business and public, is ready to support entrants and students from Belarus, wishing to obtain higher education, taking into account the situation in their country and the pressure of the government on students.

On July 9, Sumy State University ran the online kick-off meeting with the Bath Spa University (Great Britain) within the new joint KA107 project of the EU Erasmus + programme.

The project presupposes the staff exchanges between the universities within the priority areas to share the best practices in international project management, human resource development technologies, energy efficiency and building the “green” university, creativity, entrepreneurial thinking, and information security.
