On 5 December 2024, the SumDU Congress Center hosted the grand opening of the Photo Trail exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of journalism, PR and advertising education at the Department of Journalism and Philology. The exhibition, which was prepared over a three-month period, is a retrospective of photographs covering the main stages of professional activity. The photographs were provided by students, graduates, faculty and staff of the department.

Today, Ukraine celebrates two special holidays. First and foremost, it is extremely important to thank those who are defending our homeland from the aggressor. Thanks to our Armed Forces, we have the opportunity to live, work, study, and make plans for future.

SumDU is expanding partnerships with communities and institutions in different regions of Ukraine. On 4 December 2024, a cooperation memorandum was signed between SumDU and Chortkiv City Council.

On 2 December 2024, SumDU hosted a scientific seminar dedicated to the World AIDS Day. The event brought together over 60 participants, including students of SumDU and other educational institutions of the city, interns, medical professionals, and teachers.

From 26 to 29 November 2024, the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland) hosted the final in-person meeting of the project “Education for Green Transformation of Ukrainian Universities”. It was attended by SumDU representatives: Ivan KOZII (vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work) and Denys SMOLENNIKOV (head of the Benchmarking and Statistics Department).

Oleksandr TELIZHENKO (SumDU professor) was an expert in an article by the Dutch periodical “Dagblad Trow”. He commented on the situation with Russian gas transit through Ukraine to Europe in wartime.

Sumy State University is actively implementing projects to support the veteran community.

Yurii GOGOTSI (director of the Institute of Nanomaterials at Drexel University and SumDU professor) was recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher” according to Clarivate Analytics in chemistry and material science.

On 21 November 2024, the meeting of the Council for Higher Education Quality Assurance at Sumy State University began with an awarding ceremony.

During 1000 days of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has experienced incredible tragedies and losses.  On this sad date, 19 November 2024, SumDU honored the defenders who died for the will of the people and the territorial integrity of the state. Commemorative events were held at all university campuses with support of the SumDU trade union and the Department of Extracurricular Activities.
